Comparison of Milk Output Between Breasts in Pump-Dependent Mothers

Este artículo reporta el patrón natural de extracción de leche empezando el día 6 hasta el día 42 posparto de cada pecho individualmente en 95 madres, dependientes de extractores, de bebes pretermino que no amamantan. En el estudio de 3488 días, la extracción de leche del pecho izquierdo fue mayor 51.7% (n = 1800) comparada con la del pecho derecho 45.8% (n = 1598), e igual 2.6% (n = 90). Globalmente, la extracción total de leche del pecho derecho e izquierdo de todo el estudio (37 días) fue 47.4% y 52.6%, respectivamente. No hubo una relación significativa entre producción de leche individualmente y lateralidad materna, paridad, o experiencia con lactancia materna. Los clínicos necesitan evaluar la extracción total de leche como también la extracción de leche de cada pecho en madres lactantes porque puede haber una diferencia significativa en la producción de leche.
